Animated Videos

by David Saile

These are some of the animated videos I’ve made over the years.  I’ve always been fascinated by the relationships between light and sound, so most of these videos have parameters controlled by the music, or in the case of “Fractal Factory” the video created the music!

For best results, view in full screen with good speakers.

Meditation

I made this video entirely with fractal images I created with a variety of fractal design programs.   Lose yourself in the beautiful evolving fractal designs while calming yourself with soothing, relaxing music. Use for sleep, meditation, trance, or just tripping out on eye candy.

Crazy AI

All of the source clips in this video were made with AI text to video prompts.. I then manipulated these clips with various effects and synced them to music. My intent is to demonstrate that artificial intelligence can be used as a tool to enhance creativity rather than a means to replace human creativity.

The Evergreen Game

The Immortal Game

This is my reenactment of the classic "Evergreen Game", a famous chess game won by Adolf Andersen against Jean Dufresne in 1852. This was my first attempt at animating a chess game, and it took over a year to complete it (2003).   The soundtrack is from my song "Sirens".

My recreation of the "Immortal Game", played in 1851 between Adolf Anderson and Lionel Kiseseritzky.

Fractal Factory

3D Fractal zoom using the free Mandelbulb3d program. I generated the music by analyzing the color composition for each frame and converting that into MDI data to play on the synthesizers.

Finger Lickin' Good

This is my version of "Finger Lickin' Good" by Doug Martin. I made a video track for each musical instrument, reacting in various ways to the frequency and amplitude of that instrument. The video tracks were created with arKaos GrandVJ and Troikatronix's Isadora program.  Enjoy!

The Cure is in the Pain

The song was a collaboration between Mark Kelly and myself in 2007. The lyrics were from a Rumi poem "The Cure is in the Pain". We put it to music and I did the animation later.

My Friend Sid

Synchronized animation of "My Friend Sid", by Stream and the Blue Dragons. I played bass drum on the recording. Everything in this movie is responding in some way to the music.
